Spiritual growth consist most in the growth of the root, which is out of sight.

My Thoughts

Anna and Susan Warner began their life in an fancy townhouse in New York City. Their father,Henry Whiting Warner was a successful lawyer but the panic of 1837 wrecked the family finances and the Warners were forced to move into an old seedy, run down shack on Constitution Island right across from West Point Military Academy. Due to the financial need, both girls began writing poems and stories for publication. They had some success but never recovered the family fortune. One of their most successful works was a joint effort, a novel entitled SAY AND SEAL. In this novel, a little boy [Johnny Fox} is dying and he is comforted by his Sunday School teacher {John Linden} who takes Johnny in his arms and rocks him while singing “Jesus loves me, this I know for the Bible tells me so…” The words to JESUS LOVES ME were written by Clara. This novel became a best seller. When hymn writer William Bradbury read the poem, he put it to music resulting in the most popular children’s song ever.

These girls were the real deal. For forty years they hosted a weekly bible study in their living room and invited cadets to join them. This began a long and enduring relationship with West Point. Clara and Susan are the only two civilians buried at West Point. At their memorial service, they were given full military honors. I am told that to this day, West Point keeps up the house where the girls lived. They made it a museum in their honor.

In support of the above, check out Ephesians 3:17-19…Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.

Thank the LORD, the Arctic Train has moved through.

We had a little prayer meeting on the parking lot last night after church. We prayed for Jennifer and Joe to have success today in court and the LORD answered the prayer before they got home. They get to adopt the baby.

Pray for Keith Dotson and his family.

I hope you have a great Thursday and thanks for reading the blog.
