Silence Can Be Golden

“Well, aren’t you going to answer these charges? What do you have to say for yourself?” But Jesus was silent and made no reply.
~Mark 14:60-61, NLT
The whole world can ignore me but I want Jesus to speak to me.
~Ya’akov
Jesus never misspoke. He never said the wrong thing. I wish I could say this about Jack. Before Ciaphais, He refused to defend Himself. He only spoke to confirm His true identity. He could not deny the truth: that would have made Him a liar like Caiaphas and the rest of the Sanhedrin. When Pilate sent Jesus to Herod, Jesus refused to say anything. I don’t know about you, but the one thing I do not want is the “Silent Treatment” from Jesus. I long to hear Him speak. I think the reason Jesus refused to speak to them is their attitude and approach. Neither Caiaphas or Herod were sincere in their motives; neither were humble, broken or repentant. Jesus does not respond to pride and arrogance.
Caiaphas even had the gall and audacity to demand that Jesus speak. Jesus did speak but only to verify the truth that He was the Son of God. Jesus could not lie. Other than confessing His true identity, He had nothing to say to Caiaphas or Herod. He does converse with Pilate which tells me that Pilate had some sincerity about him. I know one thing, I want Jesus to talk to me. I want to hear His voice. I want His instruction and direction.
I am married to a bossy woman. It use to burn me up when she told me what to do, but it doesn’t bother me anymore. Well, maybe every now and then. The truth is: “I need instruction.” At one time I was a good navigator. My children even called and asks me for instructions on what route to take, where to turn and that sort of thing. It doesn’t happen anymore. Not only am I incapable of giving instructions; I need instructions myself. So when SHE says, “Take your medicine,” I take it. Most of the time, I don’t even know what I am taking.
It is not exactly the same with Jesus, but I have learned the hard way that it is best to trust and obey Him. He has my interest at heart and He knows best. I don’t necessarily need to know where we are going: I just need to know I am following Him.
- Bill is slightly better, PTL. Dr. Carol is bringing him back!
- Record turn out for Trunk-A-Treat. When June and I pulled into the parking lot, we were in shock. I thought “What is going on?” I don’t know what Joe did to bring them out but I have never seen anything like it at the Point. He estimates between 200-300 total. It was something else. All the trunks were promoting Jesus. I am telling you folks, this is an outreach event you need to support. Way to go Joe!
- LeAnn ask for the poem we did yesterday morning…”As children bring their broken toys to us for us to mend; I brought my broken dreams to Christ because He is my friend. At last I took them back and said, ‘How could you be so slow.’ He said, ‘my child, what could I do, you never did let go.'”
