When Jesus was speaking to His disciples about returning to Jerusalem to raise Lazarus; His disciples questioned His judgment. They said, “Rabbi, only a few days ago the people in Judea were trying to stone you. Are you going there again?” Then Jesus answered, “There are twelve hours of daylight every day. During the day people can walk safely. They can see because they have the light of this world. But at night there is danger of stumbling because they have no light.” I have always wondered what Jesus meant by that statement. What does a twelve hour working day have to do with going to Jerusalem. Martyn Lloyd-Jones sheds some light on the subject. The disciples were afraid of the risk; they did not want Jesus going to Jerusalem at all due to the hatred of the Jewish religious establishment. Jesus is basically saying, “We are not going to allow our fear of what may or may not happen tomorrow hinder us from what needs to be done today.

Jesus said in Matthew 6:34 {NLT}, “So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.” Underline the word trouble and note: Jesus did not say there would not be trouble. What He did say was: we have enough trouble to keep us occupied today, so don’t go worrying about tomorrow. Regretters worry about the past and fretters worry about the future and we have no control over either. We do not live in the Garden of Eden, the world is no longer a Paradise so be prepared, something will go wrong today. Everyday has some sort of problem to deal with. These problems vary in size and intensity but nevertheless, they are bumps in the road. Just add to your morning prayer: “LORD, I may encounter a problem or difficulty today, give me the grace to deal with it in the proper way.” Simply take life a day at a time and don’t waste time and energy worrying about a tomorrow that may not even come.

Praise the LORD for the rain. We got .61 and glad to get it. I have not been to the garden yet but I am sure we have mud, first in a long time. THANK YOU JESUS FOR THE RAIN!!! Talked to Jim last night and that got an inch or better on the farm so it appears that we all got rain.

I tried for an hour, working through ChatGPT to get a new template for the blog but to no avail. I will try again next Sunday evening. I did discover that I could send them info and tell them what I envisioned and they could make me slides for my sermons. The first one I will show you is not for a sermon…It is the Divine Attributes and I love it…

Is this not beautiful. I would love to have this in a picture frame. The Brightest Jewel in God’s Crown is a quote from Thomas Watson. I was awe-struck when I saw it. After doing the Divine Attributes, I got the idea to make slides for the sermons. This is the one I used yesterday…preaching on John 15:1-8
