Unbelievable!

But in spite of this, the people kept sinning.
Despite his wonders, they refused to trust him.

Psalm 78:32, NLT

Genuine contentment is a gift from God to those who trust Jesus completely and embrace His will for their lives.

My Thoughts

Psalm 78 is a recount of Israel’s early history in the wilderness. God had miraculously saved them from bondage in Egypt. He literally delivered them from the power of Pharaoh. They stood on the banks of the Red Sea and watched the LORD destroy one of the most feared armies in the world and the LORD did it in just a few minutes. Then He gave them a river from the Rock. Enough water from this Rock to quench the thirst of every person and animal somewhere in the neighborhood of five million thirsty creatures. Then He fed them manna daily; bread of heaven, angel’s food. He lead them with a Cloud that turned into a pillar of fire at night.

He did all these amazing things for them and their response was to murmur, complain, doubt, question and even blaspheme. This blessed generation of Israelites who saw more miracles than any generation in history, refused to trust God and rebelled consistently against Him. Despite of all God’s blessings, this generation of Israelites were ungrateful and unhappy; they had no GRATITUDE to God and no PRAISE for God. In spite of all that God has done, they demanded more; they were not content with His provision. He has given them bread and water but now they want meat. They are restless and rebellious. Wow!

Once upon a time there was a woman who lived in an old house that had one bathroom and two bed rooms. She wanted a new brick house with three bedrooms and two baths. She persistently reminded her husband of her dream until her husband, who was very content with what they had, borrowed money and built her a three bedroom brick house with two bathrooms where she lived happily ever after…right! Wrong, it did not change her one iota. She continued to be discontented and ungrateful. If you are not grateful for what you have right now, you will not be happy if God provides more.

Good crowd last night. Joe honored two Brewer High athletes who won their division in the State Wrestling competition. Joe has certainly got the energy it takes to work with youth. I get wore out just watching him move about.

I’ve been burning the candle at both ends since Christmas and I am exhausted. My beard is my sackcloth and ashes: I plan to shave the day we move. I can almost assure you, if will not be in February. I am shooting for Easter. LORD willing, we hope to finish the bath room this week, then we will turn our attendtion to the kitchen next week. After that we will worry about getting my office operational.

Hope you have a great day.
