What Christ Did For You

Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends.

~John 15:13, NLT

Christ suffered among base evil doers that you might be blessed among sweet companions.

~Robert Dingley

How would you like to spend the night with Ciaphais or Annas? What about a week at the beach with these two evil men? Would you look forward to meeting them for lunch? Remember they hate Jesus and Gentiles and in that order. I love my Christian friends and fellowship with them is a blessing. Have you thought about what Christ did for us that makes this sweet fellowship possible? Robert Dingley states it clearly:

Christ tasted vinegar and gall that we might taste ambrosia { ambrosia is a Culinary Metaphor that describes any food or drink that tastes or smells especially delicious, fragrant, or divine}. He tasted death for us, that we might taste life with Him. He fasted forty days that we might feast for eternity. He wore a crown of thorns that we might wear a crown of glory. He suffered from and among evil wicked men that we might be blessed to share the company and fellowship of those who love Him. He suffered the sorest pains, that we might enjoy the greatest pleasures.

I don’t know about you but I have no desire to spend time with those who hate Christ and love evil. I can have no fellowship with those who murder precious babies in the womb and then sell their body parts to make a little extra profit. I have nothing in common with those who scoff at the word of God and criticize His body the church. Thank God, because of what Jesus did for me, I don’t have to. Jesus suffered this hell for me so that I don’t have to. Thank YOU Jesus!

  • [For some reason, the blog reminded me of this story but it doesn’t fit the blog] I love the Ken Blackwood story of the Missionary who was stopped by a group of militant muslims. He was on a mission to deliver bibles to a village a few miles down the road. They told him to turn around. He said, “I can’t do that: God is sending me to this village to deliver these bibles.” They said, “Turn around or we will kill you.” He said, “You can’t do that, I am crucified with Christ, I no longer live. It is Christ living in me. You can’t kill a man who is already dead.” The muslims were so stunned and amazed at the man’s courage that they let him pass and deliver his bibles.”

Have a Terrific Thursday and thanks for reading the blog!!!!
