Stop; Be Still!

The wicked conceive evil; they are pregnant with trouble and give birth to lies.

“Slander is worse than cannibalism.”

~ John Chrysostom

My Thoughts

A slanderer is a sly evil person who is looking for a way to discredit the reputation and defame the character of an opponent without being held accountable. The origin of the word goes back hundreds of years and referred to a person who follows another person looking for something to use against him. The slanderer does not go directly to his opponent, he leaks the information to a third party. Of course slander is a lie, it is misinformation but it is highly effective and happened all too often in politics. We have never had a president who was slandered as much as Trump. They come up with a new lie everyday.

John Philips believes there was a person in Saul’s court who slandered David; a person who fed Saul’s deep insecurity. David never targeted Saul as an enemy and yet Saul became obsessed with destroying David based on misinformation. My problem with slander is that it works. Dan Quayle was destroyed almost over night when the media conspired on a bus to destroy his credibility. Quayle did nothing to offend them, it was Bush senior that ticked them off by making them look bad. My point is: good people can be hurt by slander. The thing that really bothers me is that it is the same tactic used against Jesus and it is effective which is why they still do it. The philosophy of the left is that if you throw enough mud, some will stick and so they continue to throw mud even when it slides off the wall. My heart longs for justice: I want these liars to be held accountable. It upsets me that slander works.

PTL, started raining off and on at 4:00 this morning. We had 0.18 when I came to the office. It looks like we may get more in the next three hours.

We went to Florence last night where the Danville girls faced the Church of Christ at Mar’s Hill. It got ugly. They were coached to play rough and take cheap shots which they did; they got two yellow cards but they should have had a dozen. They also overturned a call that hurt us. It ended up 2-0 but it should have been no more than 1-0 and possibly 0-0. Our girls were heartbroken, they really thought they had a chance to advance.

Trying to get some things accomplished this week: today we are working on sidewalks. I hope you have a great day and thanks for reading the blog.
