SETTING YOUR MIND

Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth.

COLOSSIANS 3:2

If you’re wondering why it’s so difficult to control your thoughts and maintain your faith, remember that your mind reflects what you feed it. For example, if you’re constantly partaking of conflict-based or violent entertainment, it is no wonder that anger characterizes your interactions with others. If you’re always indulging your fearful thoughts, then trusting God will be difficult indeed.

So if you desire to become all that the Father created you to be, you must fill your mind with His ways and principles from His Word. You must ask God to help you sift through everything that enters your mind each day and choose for His truth to take precedence. It is an act of your will.

This may appear difficult, but it’s the most rewarding endeavor you will undertake because through it, you will know Him better and experience life at its very best. So don’t wait. Begin refining your thoughts today. And take hold of all Jesus has given you by setting your mind on Him.

Jesus, I want to honor You. Please reveal and purge the thoughts that displease You, amen.

In His presence . . . focus on His ways, principles, and unfailing character.
