Truth And Consequences

Ephesians 4:32, NLT

Would you board a plane where one out of every ten seats falls through the floor of the plane in mid-flight?

My Thoughts

There is nothing more two-faced than sin. It can appear very attractive; this is what makes it alluring. If sin had no attraction, we would not be tempted. Temptation appeals to our lust {James 1:14}. In Hebrews 11:25 the scripture reads, Moses chose to be mistreated along with the people of God rather than to enjoy the fleeting pleasures of sin. Note: the Bible does not deny that there is pleasure in sin; this is the very thing that makes it attractive. But, these pleasures are fleeting. The Greek word translated ‘fleeting’ means temporary or seasonal. In other words, the pleasures of sin will not last.

June has been ordering a lot of stuff on-line and this stuff can be tracked. She can look on her phone and tell where the item is presently. I dare you to track those who commit adultery, jump the nest and begin a new life when someone other than the mother or dad of their children. It looks lovely and exciting at first, but keep tracking and you will see the ugly truth. The bliss of the new love will not last. I beg people to look ahead and see the consequences and most ignore me.

June loves bears. We have a bear in every room. Most of them are in the form of a picture and some of them are stuffed. She has said a dozen times that she wants a live bear cub. I always tell her the same thing: “You just think you want one. The cub will grow up and become a frightful menace.” If is not wise to allow sin to decieve you; at present, it may appear pleasurable or even delightful like a bear cub, but it will not stay that way. It will become your worse nightmare.

The bottom line is do not be decieved by your first impression of sin. There is a reason God opposes sin. Sin is anti-human. It is destructive to body, soul and spirit. One sure sign that you are being sanctified is your attitude toward sin. The closer we get to Jesus, the more unattractive sin will become. Eventually you will despise sin and long to be free of it. You will also loathe the self or flesh that is attracted to it. People are being destroyed by the SS {sin/self}.

Changing locations may not be as easy as you think. Getting agencies to change your mailing address is a headache. I don’t handle any money and I make few phone calls so June has been taking care of this and they will not change our address without talking to me on the phone and asking the same questions she has already answered.

Had more of a routine day yesterday and enjoyed it. I was blessed three times by very good friends. A lot has gone wrong lately, but it was all minor things, just bumps in the road. A lot of good happened yesterday and we give thanks to the LORD and our friends. It is all grace!

This is Jim my retired Army friend. He became a member of Grace Point some 4-5 years ago and he is faithful as a clock. Jim is a youthful 96 and a collector of art. He has a basement full of restored toys that go back an entire century. He also has antique cars and trucks. I really don’t know how many he has. He has a house full of antiques and various collections. Jim is one of the most generous men I have ever known. He buys all our coffee products at the POINT and pays for a third of the donuts. Our retired Army guys come through on the donuts. Jim comes early on Sunday morning and helps me make the coffee. It is not unusual for him to walk in with something in his hand or he will say, come to the car Bro. Jack, I have something for you. It will be a vice, a grinder, a wiring harness, or anything that I hint that I need. Yesterday he gave me a table saw. A nice table saw. That will save me from driving to Keiths to use his saw. Jim is also a knowledgeable man. He is career army and he has been all over the world. He served under MacArthur in Japan. I think everyone was under MacArthur. I think Mac thoought the president was under him. Jim has some great army stories. Our mens class is full of old men like me and somethimes we talk over one another but when Jim started talking, it is like E.F. Hutton, everyone listens. Jim is a veteran of two wars: Korea, and Vietnam. Plus is was a part of the occupation force following WWII. Folks I don’t have a lot of money and I have a lot less since we started this relocation project, but thanks to the grace of the Almighty, I am rich with friends. I had three acts of kindness shown to me yesterday and they left me feeling stunningly blessed. One gave me a table saw, one gave me enough money to get the tile for the utility room floor and one bought my lunch. How can I complain about the rain or not getting our building moved!

June told me that one of my old friends, Roy Dean Woodard, was promoted Tuesday. COLS Friday at 3:00. Lord willing I want to make that service. His son Greg is the pastor of Greenhill Baptist Church northeast of Florence on highway 43. Roy was a good man who said very little. He helped me out of a jam when I was very young. Survived by his wife Jane {makes great dressing}, his sweet daughter Vickie, and two sons, Gregg and Al. He was on the moving team that moved me from Lena, Mississippi to Cherokee, Alabama way back in 1974 when Hannah was an only child.
