Heavenly Affection

“Let all those who seek You rejoice and be glad in You; And let those who love Your salvation say continually, “Let God be magnified!”

 ~Psalm 70:4, NKJV

“God’s infinite goodness can supply all our needs, comfort us in all our sorrows and conquer all out fears.”

~William Bates

Christ must be the supreme object of our affection. Whatever problems we encounter, they will be much easier to bare if we love Jesus. Paul said, “We know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.” Did you catch that? Those who love God. If we love God with all our heart, soul, mind and body, we will understand and experience Romans 8:28 and we will count it a joy to suffer in Christ behalf. It may not be immediately, butt eventually we will see clearly how God is using trials, troubles and sorrows to make us better. We will understand that He uses these painful things for our good.

It is by loving God that we enjoy communion with Him. Understand; our love for Him and obedience to Him does not increase or decrease any of his resources or attributes. God is love and you and I cannot make Him more or less loving. He is happy and we cannot make Him unhappy. He may be displeased with our actions and attitudes but it will never change who He is, nor have any side effect on His immutable character. He is God and there is nothing we can do about it!

Also notice, we can “seek” Him. Our joy is in HIM, not in His gifts. Note also that Salvation is His. He has all the stock in Salvation; it all belongs to Him. There is Salvation in one else.
